Grant Overview

​​The Perenchio Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that foster and support visual and performing arts in Los Angeles, particularly in historically underfunded and underserved communities. We believe that the arts play an essential role in creating a more equitable, culturally vibrant, and inclusive region. Our Multi-Year Operating Support Grants are intended to be flexible and provide support to visual and performing arts organizations in Los Angeles to strengthen their infrastructure and expand their ability to serve communities and create impactful experiences for current and future generations.

Funds are intended to provide unrestricted support, including but not limited to the following:

  • Administrative
  • Capacity Building
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Trainings and Initiatives
  • Development of Programs and Services
  • Direct Costs of Programs and Services
  • Financial Operations
  • Fundraising and Development
  • Independent Contractors
  • Internal Communications Efforts
  • Leadership Development
  • Marketing and External Communications Efforts
  • Production/Exhibition Costs
  • Rent or Mortgage
  • Staff Development
  • Strategic Planning
  • Technology

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply for a Multi-Year Operating Support Grant, an arts organization must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) and/or fiscally sponsored organization
  • Be an arts organization with principal offices located in and serving LA County
  • Have programming, activities, and/or direct services performed, exhibited, or provided in LA County
  • Have year-round arts programming in LA County
  • Have a primary mission to provide arts programming in LA County
  • Have staffing to support the management and execution of the funds, with at least one full-time staff member
  • Have a history of at least five (5) full and consecutive years of arts programming in LA County
  • Have an annual operating budget of $15 million or less
  • Have a Board of Directors and/or Advisory Council
  • Not currently have an active grant from Perenchio Foundation

Ineligible organizations include:

  • Organizations whose primary mission is to raise funds
  • National and/or statewide arts service organizations
  • Educational institutions that lead to a degree or diploma, including but not limited to private or public schools or scholarship programs, colleges, and universities, arts departments and programs therein. The only exception to this is art organizations affiliated with an educational institution that possess their own independent 501(c)(3) status.
  • Municipal or County government agencies and departments
  • Organizations whose primary mission is not arts related (e.g., social service, religious, education, botanical gardens, zoos, or health organizations), as demonstrated by more than 75% of the applicant organization’s budget not devoted to arts programming
  • Organizations solely focused on summer camps, festivals, or fairs
  • Organizations that currently have an active grant from Perenchio Foundation


Application Window: May 2 – June 10, 2022

  • Application Opens: May 2, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. PT
  • Application Closes: June 10, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. PT
    • Please be mindful of the noon deadline, as no extensions will be provided beyond this time.

Application Review Process: June through September 2022

  • As part of our review process, virtual meetings and/or in-person site visits may be conducted.
